DRE Fee Increases in Effect July 1, 2024
SACRAMENTO – Effective July 1, 2024, many of the California Department of Real Estate (DRE) examinee, licensee, subdivider, and statutory/pre-license course provider fees are increasing. The fee adjustments will allow the Department to continue to provide the strongest consumer protection and better align fees with the cost of providing services.
The DRE proposed to the Legislature a series of fee increases in early 2024, and the proposal was approved and signed into law on June 29, 2024.
DRE is funded by fees charged for real estate exams and licenses, subdivision public reports, and various other services. The last statutory change to fees occurred in 1997.
By increasing fees, DRE aims to ensure a sustainable financial model that can effectively support its mission of consumer protection.
The Department safeguards consumers with monitoring and oversight measures, which includes licensure, education, ensuring adherence to the Real Estate Law through audits and investigations.
